WATER BACK UP SOLUTION

Water is the most precious resource that man has. That is why living in South Africa today every business and home needs a backup water supply for those days when the pipes are dry.
 
  • A plastic water tank and booster pump is installed.
  • The size of tank and booster pump depends on the customers needs. 
  • The tank is set up in such away that the municipal water can fill the tank and switch off when the tank is full. 
  • The municipal back up water supply is then  pumped into the house with a booster pump. The set up is in such a way that when there is no power water can be available directly from the municipal main line. 
  •  Depending on the customers requirements the water can last up to a week or longer. 
  • The system can be incorporated to catch rain water with a water filtering system. 
  • The system gives the consumer options. In an emergency situation when the tank has run dry and there is still no municipal water. The tank can be filled with pool water or water can be purchased and pumped into the tank.

TANKS AND PUMPS

TANKS
Tanks come in various sizes, shapes and colours. This depends on the manufacturer. Vertical tanks are well priced and are round in appearance. Vertical tanks take up space so are used where there are no space restrictions. 
Slimline tanks are used in complexes or where space is limited. Slimline tanks are more expensive than the vertical range as they are manufactured with a different mold.    

PUMPS
There are many brands of pumps and different pumps are specified for different applications. When specifying a pump. The following must be taken into consideration.
1) What is the head height of the pump? (How high does the pump need to pump the water)
2)How many outlets will the pump have to supply? (If supplying a hotel with many rooms, the system will be completely different than if supplying a domestic home.)
3) Does the client have solar? If the dwelling has a solar system. It is recommended a solar friendly Variable Speed Drive (VSD) is used. A VSD tends not to spike the power like any other pump, which drains the solar batteries much faster. A VSD is almost silent which is needed in complexes where neighbors are in close proximity.

  •  A Bulk water meter is installed after the municipality water meter at point of entry to the site and is linked in real time to a web based billing platform.  
  • Reports can be down loaded from the platform to monitor the water consumption in Kiloliters and in Rand value according to the different tariffs that the municipality charge. 
  • The system automatically calculates the different tariffs according to the specific municipality that the premises are situated.
  • Sub meters can also be installed in the same way to a water line that feeds various machines that are water intensive. 
  • The client can view the platform with a username and password to the system.  
  • The system can be used to detect leaks and after hour water usage.  
  • A report can be down loaded and compared to the municipal account. 
  • The meters used are accredited with all the South African municipalities.

  • Municipality water meter is faulty or installed incorrectly. 
  • Water meter not calibrated or calibrated incorrectly.
